Kalyani University is one of the oldest universities in India, it was established on 1 November 1960 by the “Kalyani University Act 1960“. Its campus, spread over 400 acres, is located in the city of Kalyani, West Bengal, which has state-of-the-art buildings, a library for students, and a beautiful green environment. This university holds the status of State University which has been given an A grade (CGPA 3.12) by NAAC in the year 2015. The credit for its establishment goes to the visionary thinking of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, former Chief Minister of West Bengal. In the early days, degrees were given in 12 departments like Economics, Education, Physics, Sociology, Physical Education, Zoology, Arts, Science, and Mathematics, But with the moving of time, more departments were added to the university.

Another university named Bidhan Chandra Agricultural University took birth from Kalyani University in the year 1975, and it emerged as a fully independent agricultural university. Bidhan Chandra Agricultural University came into existence along with the Faculty of Agriculture of Kalyani University. It was established in Mohanpur, Nadia as an agricultural university. After the bifurcation, Kalyani University continued with the rest of its faculties. It’s a UGC-approved university that offering also distance mode courses from its Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (DODL) department.

Kalyani University Admission Process 2025

Kalyani University is offering admission in its various courses through both regular and distance modes for admission in the current 2025 batch. Its admission process is based on merit for its UG, and PG Courses. So interested students should visit the university website and apply for the admission process. No fee will be charged for uploading the application form, prospectus, and documents for online admission.

Prospective students will not be called for counseling or document verification in the university, the student selected by the university will be informed through letter or e-mail, or telecommunication. The payment of fees in the university will also be done only through e-payment or some designated banks, there will be no need to go to college and pay cash.
